Do you deliver river tables to Ottawa and Gatineau?

Yes. Strongs Woodworking is based in Luskville, Quebec, about 35 minutes from downtown Ottawa and 25 minutes from Gatineau. We deliver finished tables throughout Ottawa, Gatineau, Aylmer, Chelsea, Wakefield, Kanata and the Pontiac, and can arrange shipping elsewhere in Canada on request.

What is an epoxy river table?

An epoxy river table is a table whose top is made from two live edge wood slabs set apart, with the gap between them filled with tinted or clear epoxy resin so it looks like a river running through the wood. The slabs keep their natural bark-line edges, the resin is poured in layers, and the whole top is flattened and polished into one continuous surface.

How long does it take to build a custom river table?

Lead time depends on the size of the table, slab availability and the complexity of the pour, because the epoxy must cure fully between layers before the top can be flattened and finished. When you send a project request we confirm a realistic completion date before any deposit is taken, so you know the timeline up front.

What wood do you use for your tables?

We use live edge hardwood slabs sourced in the Ottawa Valley and surrounding region, selected by hand for grain, figure and stability. Walnut, maple, ash and elm are the most common choices, and burl or spalted slabs are available for more dramatic pieces. Every slab is dried and acclimatized before it is cut.

Will an epoxy table scratch, yellow or warp?

A properly built epoxy river table is a durable everyday surface. We flatten each top on a CNC to within 0.001″ and finish it with a multi-stage sanding and polishing process, which resists everyday scratches and is easy to clean. Like any fine furniture, it should be protected from direct heat and prolonged sunlight, and the wood will move slightly with the seasons, which the construction is designed to accommodate.

Can I choose the colour and shape of the river?

Yes. Every table is made to order. You choose the resin colour (or a blend of colours), the transparency, and the overall look, from a simple single-colour river to a themed design such as an ocean shoreline, glacier or night sky. We match colours to your space and send photos as the pour progresses.

Do you make anything other than dining tables?

Yes. Alongside river dining tables we make coffee tables, desks, conference tables, live edge serving and charcuterie boards, floating live edge shelves, mantels and feature walls. Boards are a popular gift and start well under the price of a table.
